Towel with Punto in Aria inserts and points, Genoese bobbin border

Numerous small breaks in the lace, looks overly washed and bleached.

The cloth looks like cotton, with linen lace. Punto in Aria insertions in the towel ends. The narrower Punto in Aria design also runs up the towel outer edges. All the needle-made elements have a plaited thread base along the edges. The whole towel is surrounded by a Genoese-type plaited bobbinlace, narrow on the sides, larger at the ends. This piece resembles Punto-in-Aria_border_3, probably a modern Italian copy. It is an example of a complete 'towel' or similar linen, probably made for display purposes.
